The Waimea Community Chorus, directed by Barbara Kopra, will present its 19th annual spring concert, “American Songscapes,” June 1 and 2 at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea.
The Waimea Community Chorus, directed by Barbara Kopra, will present its 19th annual spring concert, “American Songscapes,” June 1 and 2 at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea.
The concert will feature songs celebrating places in America, from New York to Hawaii and the Northern Plains to the Deep South.
Selections include “Sidewalks of New York,” “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” and traditional ballads such as “Shenandoah” and “My Old Kentucky Home.” Other songs include “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “El Paso” and a short collection of Hawaiian pieces.
The show will feature accompaniment by pianists Everett Knowles and Julia Taylor, as well as a mini orchestra.
Concerts are slated at 7:30 p.m. June 1 and 3 p.m. June 2. Admission is $15 for adults, with discounts for seniors, students, military and children. Purchase tickets at the door, from cast members or at Waimea General Store and Without Boundaries in Waimea, and Suite Possibilities in Kailua-Kona.
